  1. Carrell R Killebrew says:

I purchased the Viper Tool Storage V2605SSR 26-Inch 5-Drawer Cabinet via Amazon on the recommendation of my son, Carrell *D* Killebrew. He has had a good experience with this tool cabinet; I have not.

The positives: 304 grade stainless is slightly better than 340 grade stainless for this application. The five drawer design is better than most similarly sized tool cabinets.

The negatives: The first item arrived with a bend in the right side, which I concluded was a result of damage during the manufacturing cycle (the external packaging was intact and lacking any evidence of abusive handling. Amazon took the item back and sent a second item. The second item had several issues. The bottom drawer was recessed a half inch more then the other drawers (very annoying). The next-to-bottom drawer could not close because it impacted the drawer above it (conversely you can’t open the second-from bottom drawer without opening the next-to-bottom drawer, which might be a safety issue). The right side drawer railing was set about one-half inch too high. There is no way to adjust the railing setting in this cabinet as they are set by square holes punched through the internal stainless steel frame. Also all bolts & nuts except one were visibly loose.

This is a nice cabinet if you can get one that is assembled correctly. I gave up after two tries though. If I were Viper I might care a bit more about my reputation and institute some decent quality controls on my Chinese manufacturing source.

  2. Shelly says:

Sorry you have had so many issues with the box you have purchased from Amazon. The majority of the issues you have described are not a manfacturing issue but a handling issue. Large companies like Amazon use system called clamping to move product and store it. Clamping is basically what is sound like a forklift type machine that clamps and grabs the product. This causes damage to the product without affecting the carton. We have since added a no clamping label to our products to alert larger warehouses how to best handle the tool boxes. The next issue is we do not recommend shipping the 5 drawer tool boxes via UPS or Fed Ex as the drivers never hav an assistant and almost never can handle the size and weight alone.

We strive to have the best reputation and we have a very strict quality control process. we are sorry about your past experience but if you want to give it one last try we would be more than happy to supply you the box direct from our facility.

  3. Carrell R Killebrew says:

Well Shelly, I believe the issues on my second tool cabinet were from shipping and handling, but I acknowledge that perhaps my luck was just plain bad. I’d give you another shot, if you told me how to go about it.

  4. Carrell R Killebrew says:

I meant “were NOT from shipping…” in my previous post. Sorry.
